Before I start, I know nothing about the original source material that is the Twilight novels, so I will not be judging it based off how faithful it is to the source material.
Twilight(film) is the movie adaptation to the infamous novel series of the same name. While I have heard so many negative things about this film, I however agree with the things they say about this movie. I only watched it just to see how bad it is anyway.
What I dislike about this film is that the plot feels very cliched at times, it feels more like one of those high school love stories than an actual vampire movie for a good portion of the movie, the special effects are terrible, the characters of this movie are very unlikable and boring(Edward is rude, verbally abusive, confusing and I could go on forever for why Edward is the most unlikeable character out of them all. Bella is very gullible and uninteresting. The side characters are bland, unfunny, cliched and the list goes on) the jokes are unfunny, there are too many modern culture references, there is a lot of product placement, the editing isn't that great, a lot of the scenes are just fillers and often add almost nothing to the story, the movie would not change at all if they removed the baseball scene due to how pointless it is, the morals are terrible, the vampire logics are awful, the character development is practically non-existent and the story was boring overall.
However, there are some redeeming qualities in this film, which include a good introduction that helps establish the main protagonist Bella and the story the movie is trying to tell, the acting is decent, the narration is great, Edward's dialogue is competent, the soundtrack is passable, the water effects in the credits are excellent and some of the movie is so bad it's laughable.
Overall, I found this movie to be quite awful but at least its better than Cats 2019, The Smurfs: Movie 1 and 2, Yogi Bear: The Movie and more. Therefore, I am not going to bother watching any of the sequels just to see how much worse it gets unless I get really bored. If you are a fan of the book series of the same name, I would strongly recommend not watching this movie adaptation as it may ruin the books for you.
